“Consoling the Heart of Jesus is the most important book I have read in the last decade. It has reinvigorated and focused my spiritual life, deepened my appreciation for Jesus and Mary, and called me to daily concrete works of mercy.” - Thomas Smith, Catholic Speaker and Evangelist, Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Pocatello, Idaho.
Starts January 25, 2016 10 weeks $35.00 due by January 12
Monday, 7:00pm-8:30pm
"If ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ, as St. Jerome famously stated, then ignorance of Scripture is also ignorance of Mary. This is because “What the Catholic faith teaches about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ” (CCC 487).
Following the interpretive pattern of the authors of Scripture and the Fathers of the Church, The Bible and the Virgin Mary examines the role of Mary in salvation history. Through typology it studies her role as the New Eve, the Ark of the New Covenant, and the Queen Mother. This twelve week study also examines Catholic doctrine with regard to the Blessed Virgin, answering common objections along the way.
PRESENTED BY MATTHEW LEONARD: Matthew Leonard is an internationally known speaker, author, and Executive Director of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. A convert to Catholicism and former missionary to Latin America, he is a frequent guest on radio and television programs, and hosts a podcast on iTunes titled The Art of Catholic. Matthew holds a Masters in Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
